Fall is a gorgeous time of year at White Birch Resort.  There's nothing that Minnesota Fall Colorscan compare with the beauty of the northwoods as seen from a boat or pontoon on Blackduck Lake. The shorter days, cooler temperatures, brilliant fall colors, and lack of mosquitoes all come together to make this the best time of year to sit back and relax on vacation or try your hand at some world-class fall hunting and fishing.

For the fall color enthusiast, our maple, birch and oak usually start to change colors in early to mid-September and tend to peak in color around the first MN Fall Colorsweek in October.  Take a boat, pontoon or canoe and travel around the lake for fantastic views or go for a hike on any of the numerous area hiking trails.

For the angler, each fall the walleye, northern, crappie and perch gorge themselves on just about whatever they can find in preparation for the long winter ahead. They are more likely to be in large schools at this time more than any other time of the year.  They are also more aggressive at this time of year which makes fighting them that much more fun.

MN Fall Colors

For those who are the hunting enthusiasts, we have bear, deer, and bird hunting.

Did you know, Minnesota is the top ruffed grouse-producing state in the U.S. No other state harvests as many ruffed grouse each fall or provides as much public hunting land containing ruffed grouse. Beltrami County is one of the leading counties in the state. "From Spring 2006, the DNR's survey count indicated the results of ruffed grouse drumming counts were the highest since 2001 in all survey regions except the southeast, where counts were stable  This is just what hunters and others have been waiting for.  During years of high grouse abundance, counts of at least 1.8 drums per stop are typical."  Bemidji Pioneer June 23, 06 publication.
